Amanda Bartko

Amanda N. Bartko is a senior double majoring in Psychology, and the History of Art and Architecture, with minors in Studio Arts and Museum Studies. Amanda has become interested in contemporary artists and institutions throughout her undergraduate career, and has pursued both during her senior year in meaningful ways. Amanda holds an internship in the education department at the Mattress Factory, and has done extensive research on contemporary artists’ productions on Instagram. After graduation, Amanda will do a year of service with City Year Cleveland, before returning to graduate school.

At HAARCH!!! Amanda will present a portion of her honors thesis that investigates the ways in which contemporary artists are using Instagram. Throughout her thesis, she has considered collecting practices, themes of appropriation, and self-portraiture – and what these things mean when published on social media platforms.
