Biographies

Jonathon T. Weber

Jonathon T. Weber is a graduating 2015 senior in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences in the History of Arts and Architecture.  Despite a strong background in finance, he discontinued this to focus his studies exclusively in art history.

Rachel Kauffman

Rachel Kauffman is a senior in the Architectural Studies Program, minoring in Studio Arts. Her passion for architecture cultivated from a love of residential architecture, which she plans to pursue post graduation. Though she has focused on architectural design, her studies at Pitt led her to find an interest in historic preservation. Currently, Rachel works for a small contracting company and is an intern at Weisshouse.

Cyrille Froncek

Cyrille Froncek is a sophomore History of Art and Architecture major at the University of Pittsburgh. She hails from Squirrel Hill and graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in 2012. As a recipient of the Pittsburgh Promise, Cyrille is excited to return to Pittsburgh Public Schools and work with the future scholar recipients of tomorrow. She looks forward to meeting all of the SciTech students and learning about art around the Oakland community. 

Stefan Poost

Stefan Poost is a sophomore major in Architectural Studies also pursuing a certificate in Global Studies. His main interests lie in sustainable design and the relationship between man and environment.

Laura Dunn

Laura Dunn is a senior double major in History of Art and Architecture and Communication Rhetoric with a minor in Italian. She is originally from Houston, Texas but has thoroughly enjoyed her time in Pittsburgh. She is deeply involved in the Chi Omega fraternity serving as the past president. She traveled with the HAA department to Cleveland and Detroit the past fall and was inspired by what she learned there.

Chris Hazel

Chris Hazel is a student in his fifth year at the University of Pittsburgh studying Architectural Studies-Design and Civil Engineering. Throughout his five years at the university, Chris has participated as a teaching assistant in multiple classes and is currently a research assistant with Professor Mina Rajagopalan.

Lauren Burgess

Lauren Burgess is a senior majoring in HAA and Communication Rhetoric with a Studio Arts minor. Lauren has been an active on Pitt’s campus both in academic pursuits and student organizations.  In the spring of 2013 Lauren received a Small Grant from the Office of Undergraduate Research to travel to New York City to conduct research for her honor thesis.

Mitchell Stein

My name is Mitchell Stein and I am a senior, Architectural Studies major with a minor in Studio Arts. I’m 21 years old and a native to the great city of Pittsburgh. I am a member of The Delta Chi Fraternity here on Pitt’s campus, which I have been a part of since my freshman year. Architecture has always been my passion; since I was a young boy, I played with any sort of toy that allowed me to design and build something.

Jamie Falco

Jamie Falco graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in December with a dual degree in Architectural Studies and Business, accompanied by a minor in Economics and Italian. Jamie has held various internships throughout her time at the University, including working with Passive House certified architects and a large home staging company in Rome, Italy.

Danica Cooper

Danica Cooper will graduate with honors this spring from the anthropology department with a concentration in physical anthropology, a certificate in African studies, and a minor in museum studies. She came to Pitt with experience in student teaching and has continued to do so in Swahili language classes. She has always been interested in music, and is the Equipment and Facilities Operations Manager and Transcription Specialist for Pitt’s first show choir.
